How To Develop Great Abs
The countryside is covered with products claiming to help you develop great
abs. The question you have to ask..."What is the best product for me?"
We have looked at the pros and cons of numerous options available to you . Our
mini investigation provides some answers below.
Do I Need Special Machines Or Products To
Achieve Results?
The answer to that is an absolute NO! Are there products that will
make the achievement of great abs quicker than using no products or machines?
That answer is not so cut and dry. If you are dedicated to whatever system you
choose, I believe you can create ripped abs with or without special machines
or products. If products or machines help you attain your goals, by all means
consider using them.
What Ab Machines Are Available?
Ab Coaster
You can purchase The Ab Coaster online. Is
it easy to use? Most say no. You do not have to buy this machine if you
have a fitness club in your area. Most have machines that work just like
the Ab Coaster. In a nutshell, the Ab Coaster works by forcing you to move
your torso side to side against resistance.
Once you get used to using the Ab Coaster,
you will want to use it all but maybe two days of the week in order to
achieve your desired results. The developers of the Ab Coaster claim you
only need to use it 3 minutes per day. I say see what works for you if you
should decide to go this way. I am highly skeptical as to whether it will
produce your desired results with only 3 minutes use daily.
Ab Circle Pro
Many feel this is the best commercially
available ab machine out there. It is designed to work all areas of your
torso plus your hips, thighs and buttocks! Do not think that because it
targets areas other than your abs, that it is ineffective. Quite the
opposite is true. Because of the additional areas of your body this
machine enhances, it has become very popular as an all around exercise
machine. You will see great results using this machine only 2 to three
times per week.
Ab Rocket
This machine is marketed along with a diet
and exercise plan. Simply put it has been designed to act as a chair that
helps you develop your abs. It helps you with crunches and or sit ups.
This machine allows you to set different
resistant levels in order to help you start easy and work up to tougher
workouts as you progress. You will need to devote 5 days a week to using
the Ab Rocket, while following their diet and exercise program.
Ab Glider
At $100 less than Ab Coaster and $50 less
than Ab Circle Pro, Ab Glider by Pro-Form is an ab machine that you must
look at if you are serious about developing cut abs! Although I do not
have this product, my personal exercise area has two other pieces of
equipment from Pro-Form. They work as well today as when I purchased them
10 and 7 years ago. They are quality made products. I see no reason to
believe that the Ab Glider would be anything less.
Pro-Form claims "the Circular Burn and the
Arc Crunch for a fast, fun workout of your ABS and entire core. You'll
engage more muscle, get a better cardio workout and BURN 2X MORE
CALORIES than other AB machines." I think it would be worth
giving a shot if you are focusing on your abs.
If this products gives the years of
service that my Pro-Form elliptical trainer has afforded me, you will
receive much, much more than your monies worth!
Contour Abs Belt
The infomercials are abound with the
Contour Abs system. Honestly, it seems like voodoo science to me. They say
all you have to do is put on their belt a few minutes daily and poof...you
will see great results! They have all kinds of testimonials on their
website that shows this product as outstanding.
The way it works is by using "EMS, or
Electrical Muscle Stimulation" Supposedly, the Electro Muscle
Stimulation (EMS) stimulates the muscle fiber by electrical pulses causing
abdominal muscle contraction. The belt that you strap on has a unit in it
that produces "tens like" spurts of electricity. Just as with Tens
machines, you can vary the amount of electricity that flows from the
device. They strongly promote that the FDA has cleared their machine for
strengthening and tightening muscles. Bottom line is that I would much
rather spend a hundred fifty bucks for the Ab Glider than $200 for a unit
that shocks me.
FlexBelt
Another "shocking" entry in the ripped abs
race is the FlexBelt. Not unlike the Contour Abs Belt, this unit also
works by EMS. They both retail for about $200. FlexBelt claims that they,
and not Contour Abs Belts have conducted numerous clinical trials. The
largest study was published in the Journal of Sports Medicine. Allegedly,
100% of the participants reported that their abs felt more toned and
firmed & 92.3% felt the firmness of their ab muscles increased. It seems
high to me, but that is their claim.
Although Contour Abs Belt claims FDA
clearance for their product, according to the FlexBelt webpage, they could
not find that clearance with the FDA. FlexBelt claimed they have been
cleared by the FDA.
FlexBelt claims that other areas that make
their product superior to Contour Abs Belt are: Flexbelt does not require
batteries, Contour Abs Belt does. FlexBelt carries a 60 day guarantee,
Contour Abs Belt only 30 days. FlexBelt offers bonuses in the value of
$150. They claim that the only additional product that Contour Abs Belt
includes is a calorie and exercise guide.
My Recommendation
Were I in the
market for a machine to help me in a quest for ripped abs, from what I
reviewed, Abs Glider would be my choice of a machine to help me achieve a
goal of ripped abs. Personally, I would not try either Contour Abs Belt
nor FlexBelt. That certainly does not mean either is a bad product. It is
as simple as written. I would not try either. That said, if for some
reason or another I changed my mind and decided to try EMS, FlexBelt would
be an easy decision between the two.
